Alger Wayne Sine, age 90, passed away on Sunday April 10, 2016 at his home in Kalispell.
Alger was born in Cleveland, Ohio on October 13, 1925, to John and Mary(Good) Sine, Alger was raised in Fairview, Ohio. Alger enlisted in the US Navy on October 4, 1943, attending the Great Lakes Naval Academy. Upon completion he entered into active duty as a submariner. Although he had occassion to serve on the USS Aegir and USS Jallao:the majority of his service was aboard the USS Kraken. He was classified as a Quartermaster Third Class with his primary duites being radio and radar operator.
His service ended on April 6, 1946 with his honorable discharge, He was awarded the Submarine Combat Pin, American Area Victory, Asiatic Pacific One Star and Phillippone Liberation One Star.
In 1948 Alger Married Beth Lou Navorska in Olmsted Falls, Ohio. They were married for 67 years.
Al was active with Berea Baptist Church in Ohio, teaching junior Church to hundreds of young people during the course of his life. He was well known for his object lessons. Al loved his time with his children and grandchildren, and woodworking. He loved to travel in his 5th Wheel, and was an avid football fan.
Alger was prceeded in death by his parents, a sister Violet Campbell, brother Warren Sine, and son In Law Frank Keller. He is survived by his wife Beth, daughters April and husband Del Rambo of Montana, Peggy Keller of Montana, sons Robert and wife Debra Sine of Texas, Richard and wife Diane of Montana and James and wife Laura of Montana. sister Charlotte Sine of Ohio, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Private family servces will be held at a later date, the family suggests memorial donation be made to the Veterans Food Bank of Kalispell or Home Opions Hospice.
