Bertha Mae Korolog of Bigfork passed away on Sept. 28, 2013.
She was born Birdie May Harris on Feb. 14, 1924, to the late Vera and Everett Harris of Decherd, Tenn.
Bertha left Tennessee when she was 18 and lived in New Orleans with her brother JC, prior to moving to Delaware to be with her sister, Mildred. She worked as a "Rosie the Riveter" at Atlantic Aviation and that is where she met Harry. She married Harry Korolog in Wilmington, Del., in 1946 and had three children, George, James and Patricia.
She worked as a billing supervisor at Wilmington Medical Center until her retirement.
Bertha was a strong supporter of Alcoholics Anonymous and she always spoke out for the underdog. She loved traveling and took her husband on many vacations he would not have experienced otherwise. She also loved gardening with her son Jim at her side. Before she lost her vision she was an avid reader and loved learning about history. After retiring she spent many hours volunteering.
She lived in Delaware with Harry until May of 2012 when they moved to Montana to be with their daughter. It was here Bertha experienced her first true camping adventure.
She is survived by her loving husband, Harry; her children, George, Jim and Pat; her sister, Mildred; her sister-in-law, Sophie; her grandchildren, Niko and Phillip; her daughters-in-law, Diane and Winn; her son-in-law, Fella; and many loving nieces and nephews and friends.
Bertha is going back to Delaware to be buried where she spent most of her life.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Bigfork Chapter of Alcoholics Anonymous.
