Betty Goeddertz, 72, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2016, following a lengthy illness, with her daughter by her side.
Betty was born April 23, 1944, in Great Falls to Kenny and Alice Javner. Betty grew up in Great Falls but spent every summer at Swan Lake. She and her family enjoyed their time there so much that the family finally moved there full time. Betty graduated from Bigfork High School.
Betty married Jim Goeddertz, and to this union two children were born, Nancy and Tim. She worked her very hardest to be the best mom that she could be to them. Betty and the kids enjoyed spending lots of time up at Swan Lake with her parents, and she showed them the wonders of spending time outdoors and on the lake. It was something she thoroughly enjoyed.
Betty spent most of her working years as a bookkeeper, a career she worked until just shortly before her passing. Early in her working career, thanks to a coworker, Betty was shown the love of Jesus and accepted Him as her Lord and Savior. She attended Evergreen Alliance, Stillwater Free Lutheran and Calvary Lutheran churches over the years. She loved giving of herself. She taught Sunday school at both Stillwater and Calvary, and she also was involved in many other activities at church.
Betty loved music and played the piano and the clarinet. She also enjoyed time spent visiting with family, crocheting, crossword puzzles, and in recent years she loved Facebook.
Betty was blessed with three beautiful grandchildren, Brandy, Desiree and David, who were the light of her life. She was also blessed with the marriage of her granddaughter Brandy, the birth of her great-granddaughter Braylee (whom she doted on), and was looking forward to the upcoming marriage of her granddaughter Desiree.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, son Tim, sisters Carrol Wickham and Arlee Snell, brother-in-law Don Wickham, and niece Dianna Keegan.
She is survived by her daughter Nancy Clarke and son-in-law Ron, grandchildren Brandy Woods and her husband Tony and their daughter Braylee; Desiree Clarke and her fiance Ben Miller; and David Clarke. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, July 22, at Calvary Lutheran Church, with burial to follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
