Christine Davidson

Christine Judith (Judy) Davidson passed away on February 4, 2018 in Kalispell, Montana after a brave battle with Leukemia.

Judy was born in Stamford, Connecticut on June 19, 1941 to Edward and Marie (Lignowski) Mehan.  She graduated from Stamford High School, the University of Connecticut and Syracuse University.  After teaching in Rhode Island, Judy moved her life west of the Mississippi to Huntsville, Texas.  She met Claud Davidson and they were married on May 30, 1970.   They moved to Lubbock, Texas where they raised their children, Jennifer and Bobby.  They lived in Lubbock until retirement took them to Montrose, Colorado where they lived near her beloved San Juan Mountains.

Judy was a teacher and adventure seeker.  She was an instructor at Texas Tech University, working in the Department of Geography.  Her love and enthusiasm for teaching could be felt in everything she did.  She was active in her churches in both Texas and Colorado, as an Elder, Sunday School teacher, Bible Study leader and anywhere she was needed.   Judy also had a life-long love of travel.  She was fortunate to have traveled throughout Europe, the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.  She loved every minute of her travels, documenting every mile with thousands of pictures.

In retirement, Judy could be found camping, hiking, biking, kayaking, snow-shoeing and skiing in the mountains of Southwestern Colorado.   Her favorite was to hike among the old mining ruins and talus slopes, camera and rock hammer in hand.  She was always willing to share her knowledge of rock formations, vegetation and mining history with her fellow hikers.   Her enthusiasm was infectious and her energy limitless.

Judy will be remembered for her graciousness, compassion and zest for life.  She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years, Claud, her children Jennifer Rowheder (Mark) and Bobby; her grandchildren Zachary, Sage, Evan, and Lucas; siblings Edward Mehan, Jr., MaryAnn Deary (Paul) and Dr. William Mehan (Ellen).

A celebration of life will be held in Montrose, Colorado in June (date to be determined).  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation be made to your favorite non-profit organization.
