Clarence E. "Ed" Low, 86, "went home to be with the Lord" on July 29, 2013, at the Montana Veterans Home in Columbia Falls.
He was born Feb. 8, 1927, in Los Angeles, and was raised partly in Spokane Valley, Wash.
He served in the U.S. Navy as a radar man on two aircraft carriers; the last one was the USS Leyte.
He married Mary Martin on June 22, 1947, in Washington, D.C.
Ed opened one of the first garage door companies in Kalispell. He also was a home builder in Alaska and Montana.
He loved to fish and hunt. He also loved his dog, Dolly.
Ed will be remembered by his beautiful smile and his kindness of heart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Peggy Low; and two sisters.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Mary M. Low, of Kalispell; children, Martin Low and Leslie of Kalispell, Karen Anderson and Steve Anderson of Paris, Tenn., and Valerie Nordtome and Jennifer Low, both of Kalispell; his brother, Richard Symons, of Alaska; and sister, Betty Jones, of Kalispell; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1, at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
