Cole Roberts, 54, passed peacefully in his sleep on January 28, 2020 in the comfort of his Kalispell home with the love of his life right beside him.
Cole was a devoted, proud husband to his wife, Wendy, and father to four young children who all adored him for his fearlessness, candor, passion, dependability, strong beliefs, comforting presence, and unique humor. Many will remember Cole for his spirited discussions on topics dear to his heart, and for being a man of principle always sure of his path and willing to face it with confidence and without hesitation.
Cole moved his family to the Flathead Valley in 2008 after living in Arizona for about 20 years. He was born in Santa Barbara, CA and raised primarily in Twin Falls, ID by a single father. He absolutely loved the mountains and felt called to Montana’s majestic, vast landscape.
A talented builder and craftsman, Cole renovated two of his family’s homes and could build anything his wife and kids asked for. He was in his element when he was building or creating furniture and decor he designed. He had a passion for long-range shooting in Montana and trained himself to have the ability to hit a target at 1,000 yards. In recent years, he and his wife took up weight lifting and it was a hobby they very much enjoyed doing together several days a week.
In his earlier years, Cole was an excellent athlete. He played competitive, semi-pro volleyball throughout his 20s and 30s and rose through the ranks to become one of the best players in the region. Cole also enjoyed motorcycles and he custom-made multiple bikes. During this time, he was involved in eight motorcycle wrecks! Only one of which was his fault and all of which he came out unscathed or with minor injuries somehow. God wasn’t finished with him here yet.
Cole’s career included owning / operating a pool business in Phoenix for 10 years, launching a custom clothing business where he designed artistic volleyball shorts, and working as a Residential Counselor at Summit Preparatory School, a therapeutic boarding school in Kalispell, for four years. Here Cole found it rewarding to provide guidance and leadership to at-risk teens. Most recently, even while battling cancer, Cole was a hard-working member of the freight crew at Lowe’s and responsible for unpacking truck loads of new merchandise.
Cole thoroughly appreciated the simple joys of life with his wife and kids. Although things like camping, hiking, fishing, shooting and exploring the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Northwest were a part of his fulfilling lifestyle, Cole’s favorite place on earth was always at home with his family.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife Wendy (married May 27, 2006) and his children: Son Gage (12), Daughter Reece (11), Daughter Rayne (9) and Son Rooke (5); also, his mother and father-in-law, George and Patricia Coleman of Edison, New Jersey; sisters-in-law Rebecca Barron of San Diego, CA, Christy Bouziotis of Branchburg, NJ, and Maureen Coleman of Warren, NJ; brothers-in-law John Coleman of Warren, NJ and Terry Bouziotis of Branchburg, NJ, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A faithful Christian, Cole was the anchor of his family and he will be immeasurably missed, however his strength, character and legacy will undoubtedly live on in his wife and children.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 16, 2020 at Kila Country Church. A meal will immediately follow the service. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
