Darrell Dennison, 56, passed away Sunday, Feb. 22, 2015, surrounded by his family and close friends.
Darrell was born May 15, 1958, in Kalispell, the second of five children to Earl and Virginia (Bruch) Dennison, both of Kalispell.
When Darrell was 10 years old, his father was killed in a car accident, but lucky for Darrell he had many aunts and uncles to help raise him and his brothers and sister.
Darrell had fond memories of his cousins, the Dennisons and Joneses, who lived up Hoffman Draw where he spent many hours wandering the hills and doing mischievous stuff with them. The joke always on his mother was “What's for dinner?” If Darrell didn't like what his mother was cooking he would hightail it to Hoffman Draw to his grandmother Dennison's house, because it was, according to him, much better.
Darrell also spent many years with his great uncle Chet with whom he spent fishing in the pond and hunting the surrounding hillsides.
Darrell left Montana shortly after graduation for Grangeville, Idaho, where he worked for Harland Ballard and opened and managed Cooperhood Pizza Parlor. That is where he met his wife, Shelly; they were married in 1980 and moved back to Montana.
Darrell had many illness through his life and was not able to work after 1995, but he enjoyed going to the gun shows with his longtime friend, Maynard Denna, and sometimes hunting with his close friends and family. But the thing that most lit up his day were his grandsons Justin and Parker, and his daughter-in-law Heidi.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 35 years, Shelley; and mother Virginia Dennison sons, Sam and Heidi Dennison, and Jake Dennison; sister, Rhonda, and Wayne Ferguson; brothers, Greg and Deanna Dennison, and Les and Val Dennison; and his grandsons, Justin and Parker; also nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and -nephews.
“May God relieve your pain. You will surely be missed by all.”
A celebration of Darrell’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the Village Green Community Center, West Nicklaus drive.
