David "left this life on Earth for his next big adventure" on Feb. 2, 2014, at the Brendan House in Kalispell.
David was born on Feb. 14, 1935, to Ray and Mabel McCoy in Portland, Ore.
After attending school, David met and fell in love with Rosie Badley. They were married in 1955. To that union were born two sons and one daughter.
David was drafted into the U.S. Air Force in 1956, and stationed in Hokkaido, Japan, and later to Lake Charles, La. After an honorable discharge in 1962, David and family moved back to Vernonia, Ore., where he worked in the timber industry and auto repair.
In 1972, David, Rosie and family moved to Kalispell where he opened his own auto repair shop. In the late 1980s they moved back to Vernonia to take care of aging parents. David returned to Kalispell in 2007 after he and Rosie divorced. He loved fishing, hunting, rock collecting and getting firewood. He loved spending time with his son Pat and grandson Ryan, teaching Ryan all aspects of auto repair and working on the "T bucket" together.
David was preceded in death by his parents; and oldest son, David Ray McCoy.
He is survived by his son, Pat and Sharon McCoy of Kalispell; and daughter, Margaret and Ron Gibertson of Miles City; eight grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
At his request there will be no service but a private memorial will be held at a later date.
