David Sonntag

David Karl Sonntag peacefully passed away on May 23, 2022, at his home in Kalispell, Montana. A beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend, he was 79 years old. David was born in Vancouver, WA on September 28, 1942.  He grew up in Battle Ground, WA where he graduated from high school in1960. He attended Biola University in La Mirada, California, and furthered his biblical studies at Western Evangelical Seminary in Portland, OR.  After spending several years in Alaska, and traveling through Central America, David settled back in Battle Ground with his wife, Amira, and their 4 children.  He enjoyed serving at Cherry Grove Friends church in various capacities and served for two terms on the Battle Ground School Board. David was an avid reader, and loved traveling, farming, and spending time with family and long time friends, from near and far.  He also loved eating exotic fruits, cheese and fresh homemade apple pie!   David is survived by his wife of 48 years, Amira, and their 4 children, Bonnie Sonntag Karben, Shirlene Wood, Johann Sonntag and Camille Sonntag, along with 2 sons-in-law  Bobby Wood, Garridan Robinett,  and daughter-in-law, Teresa Sonntag, and 10 grandchildren. He also leaves behind 3 sisters, Sandra Gerard, Shirley Madewell, and Linda Waters.  Dave is greatly missed by his family but they rejoice that he is in the arms of his Savior. A commemoration of his life is being held at 2:00 pm on July 9th, 2022 at Word of Grace Bible Church. 1317 NW 12th Avenue, Battle Ground, WA.  Friends and family are invited and welcome to attend Dave’s celebration of life. Friends are encouraged to visit our website at www.buffalohillfh.com to leave notes of condolences for the family.
