Debbie “went home to be with her Lord and Savior,” suddenly and unexpectedy, on July 3, 2015.
She was born in Seattle on Jan. 31, 1958. Her family moved a lot following her father’s iron work so she grew up all over the country. They settled in Walhalla, North Dakota, when Debbie, the oldest of five, started high school. She stayed in Walhalla until she came to Bigfork to spend the summer of 1977 where she met the love of her life.
She married Vernon Dee Heuscher on Aug. 12, 1978, in Bigfork where they lived and soon after raised their four children. She was the rock of her family. Always willing to listen, always ready with kind advice. Debbie had a heart for children and enjoyed teaching Sunday school and being involved with the children’s church and VBS programs at First Baptist Church of Bigfork for many years. She and her husband were directors of the church’s AWANA Sparks program for 28 years, stepping down just this spring.
She had many jobs throughout her life, but finally found a fulfilling career when she joined the Food Services Department of Bigfork Schools in 1998. She enjoyed getting to know the kids of Bigfork and knew almost every one of their names and lunch numbers by heart, which the kids loved.
Her faith and family were by far the most important things in her life. She spent as much time as she could with her husband, kids and grandchildren and visited her family out of state as often as she could.
She enjoyed reading, watching country music videos, people watching, and traveling to fun new cities as part of her position with the Montana School Nutrition Association. She was always there to support her children and grandchildren, making sure they knew how proud she was. She was a night owl and spent many nights up late chatting with loved ones.
“She is joining in heaven” her stepfather Jimmy Madden, and mother-in-law, Ella Mae Heuscher whom she was close with.
Debbie is survived by her husband of 37 years, Vernon Dee Heuscher; her mother Martha Madden, her father Wayne Hogan Sr.; sisters, Joan Meidinger and Michelle Hogan; brothers, Wayne Hogan Jr. and Clinton Hogan; her children, Joshua Heuscher, Jenni and Geoff Cosand, Jacob Heuscher, and Jessica Heuscher; her grandchildren, Cooper and Dylynne Cosand; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 10, at First Baptist Church of Bigfork, with a reception following.
