Delores Morton, 88, passed away on Nov. 30, 2020, at Brendan House.
Gone from our sight, but not from our hearts.
“DoDo,” as her friends called her, was born Dec. 10, 1930, to Oscar and Marcella Loween. She was the oldest of the four Loween children. DoDo lived in Hibing, Minnesota, until the age of 12. This is where her father worked in the iron mines as an electrician. A change in careers took DoDo and her siblings to the farming community of Verndale, Minnesota, where she finished schooling and then met Willard Morton whom became her husband Sept. 13, 1948.
In 1952 Willard and Delores moved to Montana for a short time and then moved to Oregon, only to return a year later to reside permanently in Kalispell. This is where they raised their family of three children, Jeff, Kathy and Bobbie. DoDo was a stay-at-home wife and mother while Willard owned and operated Morton Lumber. Although they resided in Montana, they traveled often to their original home of Minnesota visiting family and friends.
DoDo has been preceded in death by her father Oscar, mother Marcella, brother Bob, sister Jane, husband Willy, two daughters Kathy and Bobbie, and great-granddaughter Jessie.
She is survived by her sister Judy of Oregon, son Jeff and wife Renae, as well as seven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
DoDo resided at Brendan House for the past year. She has many staff that became family to her during that time. It has been the kind and dedicated staff that cared for her during the past eight months while family was not able to be a physical presence in DoDo’s remaining days. Her family is very grateful for the care and commitment of the Brendan House caregivers.
Private family services are planned, with the public invited to the graveside services at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 10, at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
