Dennis Dean Powell, 66, of Martin City, passed away March 14, 2017, at North Valley Hospital. Dennis was surrounded with the love of his family and friends.
Dennis was born July 17, 1950, in Kalispell to Merle and Bertha Powell. He was raised in Bigfork and was always hard working and enjoyed working with his hands.
After school he joined the Army and served in Vietnam. He was severely injured in battle and retired from the Army a disabled veteran.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 44 years Jenifer Powell, his children Shelly (Marcus) Green, Tony (Tora) Powell, Shelly Goodwin, grandchildren Courtney, Jenisha, Renee, Krystyn, A.J., and Shane, his sister Gail (Joe) Banks, brother Melvin (Cece) Powell, numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dennis was preceded in death by his son Corey Dean Powell, his grandson Dean Earl Powell and his parents Merle and Bertha.
Dennis was often found participating in his favorite activities. He loved to go Jeeping, mud bogging, hunting and fishing. For most of his life he worked as a mechanic, never afraid to take on the most challenging projects. His real passion was being a dad and grandfather. Spending time with his kids and grandkids was so important to Dennis and he never missed an opportunity to tease them about something.
A memorial and celebration of his life is planned for July 15, 2017. Details regarding time and place are still being worked on, but will be shared later.
