Dennis Allan “Bink” Sheron of Kalispell departed on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 for his next adventure with the love and support of his family by his side.
Dennis was born February 27th 1944, in Nampa, Idaho to Jack and Florence (Ryding) Sheron. Some of his fondest and formative experiences were created in Scobey Montana, among his family and friends.
Education was to become a predominant theme in his life. In 1964, Dennis graduated from Scobey High School, then attended Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana. Dennis was given an athletic scholarship to Northern Montana College, playing basketball, where he earned a Bachelors in Science, and later a Masters Degree at Eastern Montana College, in Special Education.
While at Northern he met Mary Morris and they married on August 20th 1966. Dennis and Mary shared 51 ½ incredible years of marriage and partnership.
Both committed to education, they devoted their life’s work to children and furthering their education. Together they taught in Montana, Wyoming, Idaho, and Nevada. Dennis spent 35-years in the field of education with specialized focus on providing and defining services required for those with special needs. Over his career he taught, created policy and was a determined advocate for those with special needs.
Dennis was a true athlete and deeply competitive in all aspects of his life. Anyone who knew Dennis realized that he could make any activity into a competition.
Dennis found a passion in sports and enjoyed the camaraderie and competition. Around these sports and activities he cobbled together a true band of brothers. Sports provided Dennis an important connection within the community and he was always willing to tell you what you were doing incorrectly. This mastery and vast experience was shared with many, including his cherished grandchildren.
Dennis is survived by his wife Mary, daughter Shannon of Seattle and daughter Shawn and Don Chouinard of Kalispell, grandchildren Kendall, Riley, Gavin, and Avery Chouinard of Kalispell, Lila and Olivia D’Cafango of Seattle.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Florence Sheron, brother John Sheron, Stepfather Peyton Bennett, his daughters Sharen and Sara.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 24th 2018 at 1:00pm at Northridge Lutheran Church in Kalispell, followed by lively celebration of life at the Buffalo Hills Golf Course.
The family has set up The Dennis Sheron Scholarship Foundation which will provide scholarships for local basketball athletes.
