Donald “Joe” Fehrs, 67, of Bigfork, passed away in Kalispell on Feb. 18, 2016.
Joe was born in St. Ignatius on Oct. 15, 1948, to John and Mary (Nelson) Fehrs, but grew up in The Dalles, Oregon.
Joe spent many years working as a boilermaker in the pulp and paper mill industry throughout the United States. After retirement, Joe worked for himself building houses and doing many construction projects like rock work and iron work.
He was very skilled at woodworking, welding and construction. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John Fehrs Jr., Kenneth Fehrs, and Edward Fehrs; and sisters, Shirley Ferguson and Audrey Farrlley.
Joe is survived by his wife, Julia Fehrs; sons, Bill and Curtis Fehrs and Billy Ray Dollar; daughters, April Spaccarotella, and Nichole Fehrs Speigel; sisters, Donna and Mary Ellen, grandchildren, Sophia, Yvonne, Tim, Anthony, Joseph, Breanna, and Adrianna; beloved nephew, Steve Fehrs; and best friend Rob Kamrud.
A visitation will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, at the Bigfork Community Cemetery in Bigfork.
