Doris Sistok

March 28, 1937 — November 12, 2018

Doris Ann Sistok went home to be with her Lord and Savior on November 12, 2018 after a long struggle with COPD and a brief battle with cancer.  She passed away at her home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.

She was born in Pine Grove, West Virginia on March 28, 1937, along with her twin sister, Betty, to Virginia Scyoc and Bernell Titus.  They were raised “up the run” where they made many lasting life-long friendships.  She never tired of telling tales of walking many miles each way in the snow to school and back each day. She loved those times even though they had little.

She graduated from Mannington High School in 1955 and went to work for Westinghouse.  It was while she was employed there that she met the love of her life, Victor Sistok.  They were married on February 16, 1957 and remained married until Victor’s death in 1991.  To their union, five children were born.

In 1967, she and her husband packed up the family and moved to Colorado, where she was employed as a clerk at The Government Employees Mercantile in Englewood.  In 1972 the family moved again to Kalispell where she worked at Safeway until the store closed and she retired.

She enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping with the family.  She was most proud of the elk she “bagged”.  She loved her kids and grandkids but she liked helping others as well.  After Vic’s death, she went to work for Home Options.  She worked there for several years, even “starring” in a commercial for them.  She was loved by her clients.

She is survived by her twin sister, Betty Clark and family of Farmington, West Virginia; one aunt, Margie Pitts of Pine Grove, West Virginia; daughters, Debbie Sistok and partner Robert Brown of Billings and Barbara Venturini and husband Dennis of Kalispell; sons Robert Sistok and wife Catherine of Brookeland, Texas and Mike Sistok and wife Kelly of Roswell, New Mexico.  She has 14 grandchildren – Tony, Amanda, Shana, Shane, Marcus, Jaryon, Rebecca, Heather, Meghan, Michael, Christina, Michaela, Clark, and Kelsey; 12 great-grandchildren – Kelly, Donovan, Victoria, Hailey, Jazlyn, Caitlin, Cameron, Bryan, Alex, Josh, Conor, and Nathalie; and many nieces and nephews in West Virginia, Colorado and Hawaii.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Virginia and birthfather, Bernell and two step-fathers, Everett King and Hershel Staten; husband, Victor; son, John Sistok; and one grandson, Shiloh Wurtz.

Viewing is scheduled for Sunday, November 18 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Buffalo Hills Funeral Home.  Service will be held on Monday, November 19 at 12:00 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.   Internment will be held at a later date at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
