Duane Dwight Probert (70)

Duane died January 11, 2018 at home surrounded by family in Kalispell MT following a lengthy battle with COPD.

Duane was born in Whitefish MT on August 31, 1947 to Raymond and Lillian Probert. He grew up in the Flathead Valley and attended Half Moon and Helena Flats schools. He also attended 7th grade at the State Industrial School in Miles City in 1962. At the age of 16 he went to work for the Great Northern Railroad putting in new ties. Following that he worked for the St. Regis Paper company and Kalmont Lumber. Duane retired from Plum Creek Lumber Co. after 25 years.

Duane was a self-taught mechanic and loved to tinker in his shop and help his family, neighbors and friends with various projects. Duane loved to ride anything with a motor including motorcycles, 3-wheelers and 4-wheelers.

Duane was a bit of a hellion as a young man, he worked hard and played even harder. He had a great love of the outdoors and especially wildlife. He loved to feed “his” deer.

Duane is survived by his daughter Camilla Barron, her husband Mark and their three children Ryan, Janae and Luke all of Kalispell.  Son Jeremy Probert (Leslie) and his daughter Nancy of Sandusky MI, daughter Alison Probert and her children Kayla and Romero of Moses Lake WA, daughter Callie Hardy of Salt Lake City UT, and son Doug Probert of Idaho.

Duane is also survived by a sister Ruth Willett of Kalispell, brother Junior (Lucky) Probert of Deer Lodge, brother Ed (Brenda) Probert of Kalispell, brother Don (Darlene) Probert of Polson, sister Charlotte Pederson of Columbia Falls, and brother Kenny (Debbie) Probert of Spokane WA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and several wonderful neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Lilly, sister Adelia and brother Jimmie.

Duane was a very kind hearted, generous man and he will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Duane has been cremated and a memorial will take place in the summer.
