Edna B. Johnson, 93, passed away on March 8, 2013, in Kalispell at the Immanuel Lutheran Home, with family by her side.
Edna was born Oct. 9, 1919, in Simpson, Mont., to Edmond and Bretta Baldwin. The family moved to Creston in 1928. Edna went to grade school at Egan School through the eighth grade, then went to Flathead County High School, graduating in 1938.
She married Ernest E. Johnson in Kalispell on Nov. 16, 1938. They had two sons. They spent most of their early days in Libby. Then in 1972, they moved to Columbia Falls upon her husband's retirement. While in Libby, Edna was involved in her church activities and sewing club. She worked a few years at the Gambles Store in the clothing and shoe department, and spent part of the time as a manager. After moving to Kalispell, she was very much involved in the United Methodist Church in Columbia Falls. She was always involved in Bible studies and church activities. Edna was very much into sewing, crocheting and knitting, and loved her time with her flowers. She was a member of the Creston Grange and held different positions while she was involved there. Edna and her husband spent a lot of time fishing and camping after retirement, and traveled for a number of years.
Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; parents, Edmond and Bretta Baldwin; brother, Jerry and wife, Dorothy Baldwin; brother, Melvin and wife, Helen Baldwin; brother, Raymond and wife, Gertrude; brother, Wilbert Baldwin; and sister, Gladys and husband, Fred Danielson.
Edna is survived by her sons, Bert Johnson and wife, Cindy, of Kalispell; Ron Johnson and wife, Violet, of Libby; brother, Merle and wife, Jeanie Baldwin, living at the Creston area family homestead; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; with numerous nephews and nieces.
Celebration of Edna's life will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, March 14 at the Buffalo Hill Funeral Home.
