Edward Morine Klimowicz, 70, passed away Feb. 17, 2013, in Kalispell, due to leukemia.
He was born June 16, 1942, in Taber, Alberta, and was raised in Canada and California. He attended schools in Canada and, after taking a locksmithing course, completed his high school education in California.
Edward served in the U.S. Air Force from 1966 to 1970 as an aircraft propeller repairman and engine mechanic.
Ed received his journeyman certificate in September 1993 in Alberta. He was self-employed as a locksmith and owner of Gemko Lock & Key in Calgary. He sold the business to move to Montana and then continued to work primarily as a self-employed locksmith as Gemko Lock & Key.
Ed married DeAnna VanLancker in 2002 in Kalispell. They had been married for 10 years until his passing.
His hobbies and interests included kayaking, hiking, camping, square dancing and Davidic dancing and cross-country skiing. He could build anything, from greenhouses to putting together solar panel systems.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Francis Klimowicz; and sister, Cecilia Klimowicz.
Edward is survived by his wife, DeAnna Klimowicz; children, Lawrence, Verna and JoAnne (Klimowicz) Asza Avatare; stepchildren, William Holmes III of California, Michael VanLancker of Kalispell and Robin Ann Ferren of Kalispell; his siblings, Joseph Klimowicz, Elizabeth Feluch, and Paul Klimowicz and wife, Denise Klimowicz; grandchildren, Daphne J. Klimowicz, Zehn A. Klimowicz and Adonai A. Avatare.
A celebration of life was held Feb. 23 with the Congregation of BSY at the Methodist church in Columbia Falls. Burial took place Feb. 28 at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell.
