Elizabeth "Beth" Twamley

June 30, 1927 — January 12, 2020

Kalispell

Our beautiful matriarch Elizabeth “Beth” Goode Twamley went to heaven on Jan. 12, 2020.

She was born June 30, 1927, in Alexandria, South Dakota, to Ralph and Zillah Goode. She grew up there and graduated high school in 1945.

On Dec. 22, 1946, she married Marvin Twamley, her best friend since grade school. The following summer they moved to Rapid City, South Dakota, and started their family. Over the next few years they had four children, twins Camille and Camille, David and Timothy.

In 1968 she and Marv moved to Lake McDonald and worked for Glacier Park Incorporated for the next 19 years. Her first summer she worked on the front desk in the lodge and eventually worked her way up to general manager of Lake McDonald for GPI. During this time, they made many lifelong friends. Beth always loved a good game of bridge. She and her friends always had a bridge game planned and Beth was tickled when she had the high hand. Beth loved to throw a party and could put one together at a drop of a hat, making a feast out of whatever was in the pantry. Everyone from family, friends and employees were always welcome. Friends and family were Beth’s greatest joy. Nieces and nephews called her “Sweet Auntie Beth” and friends called her Beth or Mrs. T.

Soon after retirement she and Marv moved to Lakeside and within a couple of years they began traveling as RVers. For the next 12 years they traveled across America visiting friends and family, but always returning to Montana for the summer.

Survivors include daughter Camille (Fred) Bahrenburg of Smyrna, Tennessee, son Tim (Jan) Twamley of Lakeside; grandchildren, Lisa Whetstone, Darrin and Tory Bahrenburg and Jarrett and Ian Twamley; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brothers, her husband of 71 years Marv, her daughter Camille, son David, and grandsons Curt Bahrenburg and Barrett Sargent.

There will be a celebration of life for Marv and Beth this summer in Lakeside. They would have loved knowing family and friends have gathered for a celebration of life.
