Ella Heuscher

March 9, 1924 — December 18, 2010

Ella Mae Heuscher of Bigfork, MT passed away surrounded by the love of her family on December 18, 2010 at 7:20 p.m. Ella Mae was born in Everett, WA on March 9, 1924 to Stephen and Dora Huston. She moved to Montana at a very young age and spent most of her life in the Bigfork area. She graduated from Bigfork High School. Ella Mae met and married the love of her life, Vern Heuscher, when she was 23 and spent the years she had with him as a loving, devoted wife and mother. After being widowed at a young age she began working at Lake View Care Center. Ella Mae worked at Lake View Care Center until she was 83.

Throughout her life, her family was undoubtedly the most important thing to her and after her retirement she was able to put all of her attention into being the best mother, grandmother and great-grandmother she could be. She loved being surrounded by family, going to Glacier National Park, walking the Trail of the Cedars, working in her garden, reading and working on crossword puzzles and collecting snowmen. She loved all the seasons that Montana offered; planting bulbs in the spring, gardening and enjoying the sun from her deck in the summer, the crisp colors and air of the fall, and especially Christmas and snow in the winter. She loved the fellowship of her church family and enjoyed bible study and old hymns.

Ella Mae is joining in heaven her husband Vern, parents Stephen and Dora Huston, brothers Norman and Bud Huston and her sister Vera Sampson. She is proudly survived by her sisters Doris Scott of Pablo, MT and Bev Loehr of Payson, AZ and a brother Marion Huston of Richland, MT; her children Vickie and Doug Bryan of Kalispell, Bonnie Heuscher and Vernon Dee and Debbie Heuscher; her grandchildren Joshua Heuscher, Jenni and Geoff Cosand, Jacob Heuscher and Jessica Heuscher, and great-grandchildren Dylynne and Cooper Cosand, all of Bigfork and many nieces and nephews. She will be greatly missed.

A memorial service will be held in her honor on Wednesday, December 22nd at 2:00 at the First Baptist Church of Bigfork. Reception will follow at the church. The family is being cared for by Buffalo Hills Funeral Home. Donations can be made in her honor to the Bass Breast Center or Save a Sister in Kalispell at www.nwhc.org/foundation.
