Elmo Baughman passed away Dec. 4, 2019, at his home in Kalispell.
Elmo was born Sept. 15, 1931, and spent his early life in Edinburg, Illinois. He attended schools there and enlisted in the U.S. Army on his 17th birthday. Most of a four-year stint was spent in Japan and Korea, part of the 7th Calvary Regiment of the U.S. Army. He received the Combat Infantry badge, the Korean Service Medal (five battle stars), and the Presidential Unit Citation. As staff sergeant, at his discharge in 1952, Elmo made his home in Detroit and was employed by Ford.
He met his wife, Joyce Rogers, in Michigan, and married in Florida where they lived for 56 years, before moving to Kalispell 11 years ago. They enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage.
Children include Shelley (deceased, 1968), with survivors Jeffrey (wife, Sharon), Brenda, and Curtis (wife, Laura). Grand-children include Mandi Oli-phant, Tiffany Pass, Ashley Bruce, Jordan Domin-guez, Chris-topher Baugh-man, Justin Baugh-man, Caitlyn Sharp and Cody Hicks.
Elmo was employed by the Continental Can Co. in Tampa, Florida, for 32 years in the Quality Control Department. They traveled throughout U.S. and Canada during retirement. After moving to Kalispell, he served as a “Walmart Greeter” until earlier this year.
Elmo was a member of The Church At Creston – Lutheran. He met his Lord on Dec. 4. Everyone is welcome to celebrate his life at a time to be announced at a later date.
