Evelyn Kay Wilkerson "was received into the loving arms of our Lord," Sept. 30, 2013. She put up a tough fight this last year in her battle with cancer.
She was the first-born of Larry and Evelyn Wilkerson in 1952 in Whitefish. Kay lived throughout the West and finally settled in the Flathead Valley. Kay loved this valley, with the surrounding mountains and rivers, and spent much of her time traveling, camping and fishing when she could. Cooking was one of her favorite hobbies and became a much-loved job.
Kay worked as a cook for the Arizona Bread Company and at the Flathead County jail, but her favorite job was being a backcountry cook, going horseback to the hunting camps in the Bob Marshall Wilderness; her most recent employment ending at Diamond R in the Spotted Bear Ranger District.
Kay was preceded in death by her father, Larry.
She is survived by her mother, Evelyn Wilkerson; sons, Jeremy and Kristopher Wilkerson; brother, Rod; and five sisters, Terry Trexler, Norma Appel, Karla Klingler, Lorinda Bell and Paula West; grandchildren, Kyra, Chase, Tabby, Josie, Petra and Pantera; and several nieces and nephews. She left being many friends who are true-blue friends - you all know who you are.
Kay's family would like to thank all of you for your help and love with Kay this past year. Kay was always so easygoing and a joy to be around. She was loved so much by her family and friends and will be missed.
There is no service planned at this time. Hospice was such a blessing during this past year to the family, in lieu of flowers you may send a gift to Hospice in Kay's memory.
