George R. Marsh, 72, of Kalispell, passed away at home on Friday, March 29, 2013.
George was born Aug. 12, 1940 in Lewistown, the son of Andrew W. and Roberta M. (Aultman) Marsh. He grew up and attended schools in Lewistown and Anaconda, graduating from Anaconda High School in 1959, and then graduating from Montana State University in 1969 in electrical engineering.
George was drafted during the Vietnam offensive, serving in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee (Construction Battalion). George participated in the Tet Offensive of 1968, Battle for Hue City; and then went to Bozeman to finish school.
George had a career working for the Bonneville Power Administration, retiring in March 1998.
He was an avid outdoorsman, hunter and fisherman, having taken many, many hunting trips in the Big Hole with his friends and with his son, his constant companion, a safari to Africa with best friend Martin White. He also spent many hours reloading shells and trap shooting.
George was a Mason from Concordia Lodge No. 249 in Spokane, Shriners International-Bagdad Shrine in Butte, and 33rd Degree Scottish Rite Free Masonry. He was also a member of the Elks lodge and the National Rifle Association.
George was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Roberta Marsh; sister, Gayle Seidel; and brother, Andrew W. Marsh.
George is survived by his wife, Sundra; daughter, Kimberly, and husband, Steve Howell, of Boise, Idaho; Don Kurt and Amy Marsh (Hadley) of Kalispell; sister, Alison (Marsh) Harding and Fran Harding and children of Carlsbad, Calif.; cousin, Byron and Dianne Aultman of Rapid City, S.D.; grandchildren, Gunnar and Grant Marsh, and Carter, Avery and Cooper Howell; sister-in-law, Kandis and Ronochetto and son Cody; and Leslie and Don Stodden and children Brandon and Dawn.
George's remains have been cremated.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, at Scottys Shootin' Ranch, 458 Somers Stage Road in Somers.
