Horald Sundvahl Ii

d. September 14, 2014

Harold "Hal" Richard Sundvahl II, 75, passed away peacefully in his home on Sept. 14, 2014. He was a retired farmer and architect.

Hal was born Feb. 3, 1939, in Odessa, Mo., the son of Harold and RoseAnna (Powell) Sundvahl. He was a proud alumni of Oklahoma State University where he became a licensed architect.

Hal married Jill Zyvoloski in 1994 in Dallas. They had been together for 20 years.

Hal was a true Renaissance man. His curious mind made him a lifetime learner. Hal used his agricultural skills throughout his life all across the country, from his ranch in Oklahoma to his potato farm (Royal Farms) in Minnesota, and Texas. Hal was an expert craftsman whose work could be seen around the world. He spent many years participating in missionary work to build churches, schools and orphanages for those in need. In his spare time you would find Hal in his shop where he rebuilt classic cars and boats. He was a remarkable woodworker. There wasn't anything he couldn't build.

Hal was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Richard Sundvahl I and RoseAnna Powell Sundvahl; son, Eric Scott Sundvahl; and stepdaughter, Johanna Gutzman.

Hal is survived by his wife, Jill Sundvahl, of Rollins; daughter, Stefnie Sundvahl, of Whitefish; sons, Jason and Amanda Sundvahl of Dalhart, Texas, and Quinten and Jessica Sundvahl of Lakeside; daughter, Dr. Amanda and Randy Craft of Long Prairie, Minn.; stepdaughters, Jessica and Brian Volkmann of Apple Valley, Minn., and Dr. Jocelyn Gutzman of San Diego; and sisters, Sigrid and Scott Williams of Bartlesville, Okla., and Neva and Jim Cruz of Dallas. He was the proud grandfather of 11 grandchildren.

“Hal is now in the arms of his beloved Lord.”

A celebration of life for Hal will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 20, at the Lakeside Baptist Church.
