Jay Goodwin

Jay Harlan Goodwin, age 89, passed away on April 17, 2020, at his home in Somers.

Jay was born on Jan. 18, 1931, in Lakeside to Jess and Sarah (Serwerda) Goodwin. He attended grade school at the little red schoolhouse in Lakeside, When Jay was a teenager the family moved to Libby. A few years later they moved back to Kalispell, where Jay attended Flathead County High School. Jay met the love of his, life Naomi Pound, and they married on July 9, 1955. Jay did logging and road building for the timber industry. He also worked for Lum Owens for years and continued on to do numerous other road jobs such as Big Mountain and Glacier National Park. He also built all the ski runs at Blacktail Mountain Ski Area. Jay never really retired.

Jay is preceded in death by his parents, son Duane and several in-laws.

Jay is survived by his loving wife Naomi, six of his seven children: Gayle and (Steve); Jerry (Elacia); Roger and (Sandy); Steve and (Cathy); Brenda and (Bob); April and (Mark) and daughter in-law Pam; 27 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; sisters Alyce Eastman and Grace Erickson; and brother Ward Goodwin.
