John J. Benningfield, 50, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, 2013, in Portland.
John was born in Kokomo, Ind., April 25, 1963. The family moved to Whitefish, where he was raised and attended schools. The family lived in Sweetwater, Texas, where John graduated from high school.
Living back in the Flathead Valley, he attended Flathead Valley Community College where he graduated with a Associate of Applied Science degree. He then attended Northern Montana College where he got his Bachelor of Science degree.
John worked as a field service engineer for Eaton Corporation, field service engineer for Kapiscan Systems, semiconductor technician for Intel Corporation and as a final test technician for Semitool. He was a member of the NRA-GOA and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.
John was preceded in death by his grandparents, Henry B. and Levita A. Benningfield, and Harold and Maxiene Bitner.
He is survived by his father, John Benningfield, of Reserve, N.M.; mother, Barbara Bitner, of Bayview, Idaho, brother, James Benningfield; sister, Candace Benningfield; and brother, Scott Andrew Benningfield.
A celebration of life service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A private family interment will be at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
