Joseph Cartwright

Joseph R. “Sonny” Cartwright, age 81, passed away on Oct. 15, 2020, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

Joseph “Joe” was born on Feb. 10, 1939, in St. John, North Dakota, to Joseph and Mary (McMaster) Cartwright. He grew up with two brothers and two sisters.

Joe joined the Marines where he served our country proudly for six years.

Growing up, he was known as Sonny; when he got older he was known as Joe.

Joe married Laura Smith in 1965, out of that union they had four children, Jeannie, Mary Jo, Shari and Penny; and later Joe had a son Joey Cartwright.

Growing up, Joe loved the outdoors. He enjoyed camping, fishing and trapping. Being outside was Joe's natural calling. He was a practical jokester. Joe was always teasing someone. He always had a smile on his face and loved doing these things for others. Joe was a true gentleman.

Joe is survived by his four children, numerous grandchildren, multiple great-grandchildren, as well as his brother.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, and his parents.

A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Joe's memory will not be forgotten and he will be missed greatly.
