Joyce E. Fontenoy, age 64, passed away from progressive surernuclear palsy on Sunday July 31, 2011 at her Marion residence. Joyce was born March 12, 1947 in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Lil (Witt) Fox. Joyce grew up in Milan, Illinois and graduated from Rock Island High School. She married Thomas E. Fontenoy in Milan, IL in 1963. Joyce worked as a florist where she owned and operated Milan Flower Shop in Milan, IL. Joyce had been active in the Milan Women's Club, Girls softball, and the Sherrard Booster Club. She enjoyed gardening and her family. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Leonard and Lil Fox; brothers Jerry Fox, Ron, Larry, and Jim Fox. Joyce is survived by her husband of 48 years Thomas E. Fontenoy; children Linda Welch and Peggy Goodrich; brother Art Fox of Moline, IL; 5 grandchildren, Trent, Mackenna and Trey Goodrich, Clare and Audra Joyce Welch. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday August 11, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church.
