Kenneth “Ken” Paul Haugan age 95. Ken passed away on August 7th 2020, at his home with family at his bedside .
Ken, beloved and devoted husband and father is survived by his wife of 70 years , Bette , his four children and spouses , Mark and Carla Haugan , Marla and Kim Elliott , Rodger and Lisa Haugan and Chris and Sue Haugan. six grandchildren Geoff , Shawna and spouse Jess , Kasey and spouse Mari Carmen ,Bryce , Anders and Annika and one great granddaughter Jessa.
He is preceded in death by his sister Dorothy “Dolly” Korom and his parents Katherine and Cyrus Haugan.
Ken was born In Minot , North Dakota , July 16th 1925 to Katherine and Cyrus Haugan.
Ken served our country in the Navy as an electrical radio technician from 10/1943 to 5/1946.
Upon being honorably discharged he entered college at Minot state Teachers College , where he met his wife Bette and were married in 1950 eventually he attended University of North Dakota obtaining a Bachelor of Science and geology . And began his career. He was employed by Cities Service Oil Company as a Petroleum Geologist for 30 years , traveling extensively in Canada and the USA Ken and Betty make Kalispell their home in 1993.
Ken was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church . Sons of Norway and the Kalispell Lions Club . He enjoyed activities associated with these groups including teaching children to play cribbage in local schools , visiting the Veterans Home , helping seniors complete tax forms , selling raffle tickets , arranging speakers for the Lions club meeting , Scholarship selections committee, etc can also was an avid supporter of all his children grandchildren's extracurricular activities , including basketball , soccer , golf and band. He had a passion for golf and played well into his 80s . Ken thoroughly enjoyed his “jaunts” into town To local businesses, to chat with folks, enjoying their hospitality and “free coffee”
The family wishes to thank Dr. Habel for his many years of care and support as well as the care provided by Home Option Hospice , Comfort Keepers an Melissa Miller .
Due to public gathering restrictions the family will be having a small private service at the family home , with pending plans for a celebration of life at a later date . In lieu of Flowers memorial contributions may be made to Kalispell Lions Club to support their site and hearing foundation At .
