Kenneth W. Schrammeck

Kenneth Walter Schrammeck, age 101, of Kalispell passed away May 1 in Kalispell. He was born January 14, 1923, in Great Falls, Montana, to Anna and Walter Schrammeck. Ken was a lifelong resident of Montana and his grandparents’ roots went back to ranching in the Cascade, Montana area. Ken attended Great Falls High School and Montana State University. He enlisted in Navy Aviation and was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in Wisconsin where he met his wife Genevieve B. Batwinski of Kenosha, Wisconsin. They married in 1945 and enjoyed 73 years of marriage, making their home in Great Falls where they raised three daughters, and relocating to Kalispell in 1996. Ken was preceded in death by his wife Genevieve in 2019. 

Ken had a long career with the Great Northern and Burlington Northern Railroad in Great Falls, retiring in 1983. His family enjoyed many camping trips to Seeley Lake, boating and water skiing on the Missouri River, and fly fishing for those big rainbow trout. After retirement and the move to Kalispell, they lived in Village Greens for 24 years where they enjoyed golf, bridge and travel. They traveled to Europe several times and enjoyed many trips to Hawaii, Arizona, and other states. Ken was fortunate and often mentioned he was retired longer than he worked at the railroad, and was proud of his retirement. Ken was an avid gardener and puttered long hours on his manicured lawn, garden, trees, and house. He took great pride in any project he was working on and instilled this work ethic in his daughters. Ken became a resident of Buffalo Hills Terrace in 2021 and enjoyed the lifestyle of community living. 

Kenneth is survived by his daughters Darcy Albert and her husband Bob of Kalispell, Diane Etter and her husband Bill of Kalispell, and Marcia Holas and her husband Marvin of Glendive. Ken is also survived by his grandchildren: Scott Jackson, Becky Jackson, Will Etter, Andrew Etter, Aaron Holas, Janell Holas Vizcaino; great-grandchildren Taylor Jackson, Max Etter, Frankie Etter, Eliza Etter, Alex Etter, and his namesake Kenna Vizcaino; great-great-grandchildren Beckham Jackson and Trevyn Jackson.
