Mr. Lawrence "Larry" D. McAtee passed away at Kalispell Regional Medical Center on Nov. 2, 2014, at the age of 73, nearly 18 years after a heart transplant.
Larry was born on June 23, 1941, in Kalispell to Donald and Esther McAtee. He attended Flathead County High School. He joined the Army, serving in Fort Ord, Calif., then in the Army Reserves.
He married Patricia Ann Bundt, a teacher, in March 1965 and Lisa was born January 1966.
Larry was a talented musician who enjoyed entertaining people with his endless sense of humor, singing and playing his guitar and was a great friend to all.
His professions through life included logging, pork plant processor, homebuilder, bartender, and bar and poker manager. He was extremely intelligent, could do complicated math equations in his head and could recite "The Midnight Ride of Paul Revere," the Gettysburg Address and the Preamble to the Constitution.
Larry is survived by his daughter, Lisa McAtee Huffman, and her husband, Randy; grandsons, Patrick Robison and Michael Huffman; brother, Robert McAtee, and wife, Carole; sister, Juanita McAtee Doty, and husband, Gene; former wife, Patricia Bundt McAtee; stepson, Craig Dvorak, and wife Laurie, and children Ashley and Brock; brother-in-law, Larry Bundt, and wife, Dessa; sister-in-law, Jolene Meyer, and husband, Clay; sister-in-law, Linda Higginbotham, and husband, Scott; numerous nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, grandparents, sister Donna Rose, and half brothers Donald and Thomas.
There will be a funeral at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, at Central Bible Church, Kalispell, with Ken Young officiating, with a potluck reception immediately following. There will be a celebration of Larry's life at 6 p.m. at Cattlemen's.
