Lloyd Earl Mathwig, 75, passed away from heart problems on May 19, 2014, at his residence in Kalispell.
He was born Oct. 29, 1938, in Kalispell and was raised in the Valley.
Lloyd went to Mountain Brook Grade School, and at the age of 15, began work in the logging industry. Lloyd worked in the woods for over 40 years.
Lloyd married Shirley Jamieson in Culver City, Calif., on June 7, 1958.
Lloyd was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Kalispell and the First Baptist Church in Whitefish. He became a charter member of the First Baptist Church of Bigfork. Lloyd enjoyed hunting, fishing and hiking, and especially spending time with his family.
Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, Walt and Mary Mathwig; and a daughter, Peggy Ann Thompson.
Lloyd is survived by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Mathwig; sons, Walter and Amanda Mathwig, Lonnie and Donna Mathwig, Everett and Patti Mathwig, and Jacob and Kay Mathwig; brother, Richard and Pamela Mathwig; 18 grandchildren, Shandra (Jesse), Amanda (Josh), Cody, Kelsey, Makenna (Tyler), Katelyn, Cameron, Karl (Michelle), Brianna (Josh), Kollin, Caleb, Lydia, Josiah, Chloe, Dominic, Elizabeth, Benjamin and Catherine; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Visitation for Lloyd will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 27 at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28 at the First Baptist Church of Bigfork, with burial following at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
