Lorraine Clauson Nelson passed away on July 1, 2014, at the Welcov Assisted Living Facility in Kalispell.
She was born in 1919 in Benedict, N.D., and was the youngest of 10 children born to Heinrick and Katharina (Schock) Delzer. She had four sisters and five brothers.
She grew up on her family's farm near Benedict and attended high school in Garrison, N.D. After graduating from high school she went to Minot State Teachers College for one year, in Minot, N.D.
She married Albert Clauson in 1939, in Fergus Falls, Minn.
After several other residences in Minnesota and Montana, they moved to Bozeman where she attended Montana State University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1964.
Lorraine and Albert moved to Kalispell in 1964, where she taught in the Kalispell school system until her retirement in 1981.
Albert Clauson developed cancer and passed away in 1967.
Lorraine was also married to Henry Nelson of Kalispell from 1981 until he passed away in 1996.
She is survived by a brother, Ted Delzer of Fergus Falls; her son, Jack Clauson and his wife, Virginia Clauson; two grandsons, Erik and Neil Clauson; and three great-granddaughters, Christina, Lucinda and Virginia Clauson, who all live in the Boston area; as well as a stepdaughter, Bonnie Nelson Greenland, who lives in Kirkland, Wash.
A brief graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, July 7 at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell, in section E, followed by refreshments and sandwiches at the Epworth Methodist church.
