Late in the evening of Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the end of a short stay at Brendan House in Kalispell, Lyle passed away as he wished, quickly and peacefully in his sleep.
He was born in Superior, Wis., Nov. 7, 1925, and grew up in Eau Claire, Wis., with sisters Phyllis and Ailene, and a brother Jack.
After high school he joined the Navy Air Corps and was able to spend part of his time attending Millsaps College in Jackson, Miss., where he played football and baseball, and then the University of Oklahoma. After discharge he married Muriel Cusick whom he had known since grade school. He then earned a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and a master’s in education at Oklahoma.
Lyle’s career started as a pharmaceutical representative in Midland, Texas, and later he owned a medical supply company. In 1975, he and his wife moved to Kalispell where he was very active in real estate. Career changes in real estate took them to Louisville, Ky., and Cincinnati, before returning to Kalispell in 1996.
Simply said, Lyle was one of those people everybody liked.
He is survived by his son, Tom Bartlett, of Kalispell; three granddaughters Shanna Bracken, Kim Bartlett and Kellie Oakes, grandsons-in-law Tracy Bracken and Brian Oakes, with four great-grandchildren, all living in Atlanta.
A celebration of life will be held Friday, Aug. 8. For details contact Tom Bartlett at 885-3865.
