After an 8-year battle with cancer, Lynda Kay Meyers died at home in Kalispell, Montana, on Sunday, March 29, 2015. Lynda was 57 years old. She is survived by her husband, Tom Meyers, and her daughters, Julie and Rebecca. Her parents, Ken and Mary Myers, live in Richland, WA. Her brother, Terry Myers (Nancy) lives in Zillah, WA and her sister, Jody Smith (David) lives in Burbank, WA.
Lynda was born on July 25, 1957 in Los Angeles, CA, to father Kenneth Myers and mother Mary Mings Myers. Through high school, she lived in Redding, CA. Upon graduation, she and her family moved to the Tri-Cities area of Washington. Lynda’s Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy was earned at the University of Washington.
She married Tom on June 23, 1979, in Kennewick, WA. Julie and Rebecca joined the family, as adopted daughters, in unexpected ways in 1986 and 1988, respectively. Lynda and Tom celebrated their 35 th anniversary last summer.
Lynda worked in Occupational Therapy in several communities in Washington, beginning in Walla Walla, and last worked Prosser Home Health in 2011. Her creativity, compassion and friendship served her well in her profession. Lynda worked part-time, while home-schooling Rebecca for several years.
Her community activities include AWANA Clubs and Prosser, WA Young Life. Hobbies included Bible study, photography and crafts. Her great gifts were hospitality and her friendly approach to everyone.
Breast cancer was diagnosed in 2007. There were three different cancer battles over the last eight years. During the last four months, family members and friends helped to care for Lynda at home and at her various appointments.
Lynda has several surviving aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, who live mostly on the west coast.
Lynda requested cremation and will not immediately be interred. Two “Celebrations of Life” will be held. The first will be at Easthaven Baptist Church, Kalispell, MT, at 11 AM, Saturday, April 11 th . A meal will follow at the church. A second Celebration is to be held in Prosser, WA, at Bethel-Prosser, on Gap Road, at 3 PM, Saturday, April 25 th . A meal will follow at the church. The family would like to thank all the caregivers, doctors and technicians, who helped with her care. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Save-A-Sister Flathead, through Kalispell Regional Healthcare at kalispellregional.org. This is a fund for women who can’t otherwise afford screening mammography, or equipment.
