Margaret Pack passed peacefully into eternity on Jan. 25, 2023.
Margaret Alice Cooper was born in Wheatland, Wyoming to Jim and Alice Cooper on March 30, 1933. It was in Wheatland, during her senior year of high school, that she met a new boy in town, Ronnie Pack, at a church youth group. After graduation from high school, Margaret and Ronnie were married. One year later, their first daughter Deborah was born. That same year they moved to Kalispell, sight unseen. They recognized Kalispell as the perfect place to put down roots and made it their home. In short succession, two more girls were born, Holly and Vonnie. Margaret was a stay-at-home mom to her three girls and was the in-home bookkeeper for several years for their construction business, Pack & Co. Margaret loved the scenery of Montana, especially Glacier National Park. She became an avid hiker and ventured several backpacking trips. One of her favorite hikes was a 7-day, 70-mile backpacking trip through the Bob Marshall Wilderness with friends. Another memorable trip for her was backpacking through Brown's Pass in Glacier. In her senior years, she joined a hiking group of like-minded women and hiked and re-hiked many of the trails in Glacier and Waterton National Park in Canada. The Flathead Valley offered outdoor adventures that she enjoyed with her family including skiing at Big Mountain, golfing at Buffalo Hills Golf course, and spending Sunday afternoons at the Mahugh/Pack cabin on Echo Lake. Margaret and Ronnie were empty nesters by the age of 41; at which time they began their travels. A few of Margaret's favorite trips were riding with Ronnie on a motorcycle through the Austrian Alps, a sailing adventure through the Tonga Islands and a cruise through the Norwegian fjords. Margaret was a member of Central Christian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years and a faithful servant. Ronnie passed away in 2012.
Margaret is survived by her daughters: Deborah Pack-Patton and her husband Bruce of Vancouver, Washington; Holly Pepe and her husband Ralph of Post Falls, Idaho; Vonnie Gardner and her husband Brian of Kalispell; her grandchildren Chad Patton, Lindsy Pepe Baird, Stacey Gardner Sundt, Eric Gardner, Taylor Gardner and 12 great-grandchildren.
Margaret's family would like to thank the staff at the Immanuel Lutheran Communities for their exceptional care.
A service will be held at the Buffalo Hill Terrace Chapel, 40 Clairmont St., Kalispell at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2023.
