It is with profound sadness to report the peaceful passing of my loving, caring, attentive husband and best friend, Martin “Marty” Neuhausen Jr. on June 16, 2020, at his home in Whitefish due to complications related to Lewy body dementia.
Marty was born to Martin W. Sr. and Laura “Mickey” (Holman) Neuhausen on Jan. 6, 1943, in Kittanning, Pennsylvania.
Marty proudly served 20 years as a Montana Highway Patrolman. In addition to being a patrolman, he worked many other odd jobs with his friend Don “Butch” Denning. He also owned and operated Marty’s Excavating in Kalispell until moving to Washington with his wife Danette in 1990 where they enjoyed many years together fishing, camping, exploring the Pacific Northwest, and vacationing on the islands of Hawaii, Kauai being his favorite. Marty was an avid perch and walleye fisherman but would never deny another fish species an opportunity to get caught. He was generous, kind and patient, sharing his knowledge of fishing or any of his other hobbies. He first taught his wife Danette to fish; together they shared that same love of fishing Lake Washington with nieces and nephews, Samantha, Stephanie, Alex, Zachary, Mason and Madisyn. Marty had an infectious smile, and an amazing sense of humor but, most of all, a heart of gold. His favorite food was hamburger but he wouldn’t hesitate to request steak and eggs just to mix up the menu a bit.
Marty was preceded in death by his parents Martin W. Sr. and Laura “Mickey” (Holman) Neuhausen and father-in-law, John Schutt.
He is survived by his wife Danette Neuhausen, sister Beverly Macy (Dee) Macy of Homer, Alaska, brother Christian Neuhausen (Virginia) of Great Falls, father-in-law Don Frownfelter of Bigfork, mother-in-law Carol Schutt of Whitefish, brothers-in-law Kevin Schutt (Tracy), VanKirke Schutt and David Schutt, sisters-in-law Kimberly Jenkins and Connie VanDyke, many nieces, nephews and family dog Maya. Marty is also survived by his first wife Patricia Neuhausen and their three grown daughters, Roxanne Ely (Duane), Michele Hadley (Kevin), Julianne Neuhausen and their families.
I would like to thank my family and part-time caregiver for assisting in the care of Marty, his friend Brock Wilson for stopping by to catch up, Dr. Timothy Stutzman for years of compassionate care, and Frontier Hospice for caring for him the week prior to his passing.
Cremation has occurred; no services/ceremony per his wishes.
Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
