Mary Brekhus passed away peacefully on Aug. 14, 2014, at the Brendan House in Kalispell.
Mary was born Oct. 17, 1956, in Kalispell to Howard and Fern (Miller) Brekhus. Mary graduated Bigfork High School in 1974 where she excelled in basketball and track and field. She was later inducted into the Girls' Basketball Hall of Fame. Mary had a great love for her home in Bigfork.
She was an avid sports fan, faithfully rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and the Montana State Bobcats.
Mary was known and will be remembered fondly for her keen sense of humor and her ability to brighten the day of everyone with whom she came in contact.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, and her niece Kacie Brekhus.
Mary is survived by her brothers, Mel and wife Candi of Southlake, Texas, and Mark and wife Lora of Scottsdale, Ariz./Bigfork; five nieces and nephews, Sonja, Dane, Tom, Ashley and Joshua; great-nieces, Jerry, Michael and Cora; and great-nephew, Branson.
We will dearly miss Mary and her love of life, laughter and beautiful personality.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
