Mary Louise “Babe” Hellyer was born in Havre Aug. 7, 1937, to Beryl and George Holman.
She went “home to the Lord” Feb. 25, 2016, with her family by her side.
Babe married John Hellyer June 11, 1957 in Superior. They lived in Seeley Lake, Deer Lodge, and Kalispell before settling in Ferndale. It was here they would raise their family and live life together on the little farm she loved.
In 1984, Babe attended FVCC and earned her GED. She was very proud of this accomplishment.
Babe loved her Jersey cows, picking huckleberries and black caps on Crane Mountain and in the
South Fork. She loved to garden, sew, read and feed the hummingbirds. She loved her long phone conversations with her sisters Beverly and Verda. She was known for her delicious fruitcakes. She was a very proud Grandma and loved her family.
Babe was preceded in death by her brother Harry Holman; mother Beryl Wilson; stepfather Sam Wilson; and son-in-law Rick Groves.
She is survived by her husband John Hellyer at their family home; daughter and son-in-law Debbie and John Murer; grandchildren Ryan, Cy, Kendra and Lexi Murer, Josh and Lindsey Groves and Jessica Hansen.
Graveside services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, Bigfork Community Cemetery on Swan River Road in Bigfork.
