Melvin “Mel” John Tweet “Tweeter”, age 74 of Kalispell passed away September 20, 2014. Mel was born May 28, 1940 in Butte , Montana to Norris and Nellie (Hearne) Tweet. Mel was raised in Butte and graduated from Butte Central. He moved to Kalispell in 1962 where he began working for the city of Kalispell as a firefighter. While working as a city firefighter; Mel also owned and operated his own trucking business and landscape supply business. He hauled cement for Ronnie Pack, operated his own dump truck and drove for several other trucking companies. Mel always said (he hauled everything but a log). Mel retired from the city as a firefighter in 1990 after 22 years of service. Mel married Cheryl Rames in 1988 in Kalispell. Mel built and loved street rods; enjoyed socializing with his friends at the car shows and Rod Runs, and was a member of the “Outlaws” car club. Mel always looked forward to the days fishing with his buddy Tom and a cold beer on the Stillwater . Mel was preceded in death by his parents and mother in law Eleanor Rames. He is survived by his loving wife of 26 years Cheryl Tweet, sons Mark Tweet of Kalispell, Mike Tweet of Salt Lake City , UT , Marty Tweet of Kalispell, Daughters Jackie Tweet of Sherwood , ND , and Angie Satter of Portland , OR . He is also survived by his brothers James Tweet and Andrew (Susan) Tweet, sister’s Sister Paula Marie Tweet SCL, and Katherine (George) Goggin, 12 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held Friday September 26, 2014 from 6-8 PM at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 AM at the Risen Christ Parish on Saturday September 27, 2014 with burial to follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery .
