Michael Corti

June 25, 1949 — January 22, 2013

Michael William Corti, 63, passed away from cancer on Jan. 22, 2013, at his Whitefish residence.

He was retired from special operations in the military. Michael earned various awards and medals while in the military, including five Good Conduct Medals, Expert Rifleman and Pistol, .45 caliber, Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation, Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Bronze Star, Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Commendation Medal and the Navy Achievement Medal.

He was a local VFW judge advocate, service officer, provost marshal and Cootie of the Year.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Phyllis Corti.

He is survived by his wife, Terry Corti, of Whitefish; son, Scott Corti; stepdaughter, Trista Hale; stepsons, Brendan and Blake Young, and Shaun Cheek; and grandsons, Jace and Jeffery.

Celebration of life services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at the Whitefish VFW.
