Michael Oscar LaCroix, 62, left us on May 15, 2018, in the early morning “for a better place that God prepared for him.”
Michael was born Nov. 19, 1955, in Long Beach, California, to Alfred Paul LaCroix and Betty Mae (Bush) LaCroix.
Born with curly red hair, full of energy and promise for this world, Michael began running as soon as his legs were strong enough to carry him, winning several races in high school.
Michael accomplished much in his lifetime. He worked hard throughout his life and made many friends wherever he went.
He was an avid collector of Westerns, coins, hats and smiles from those around him. He made an effort daily to enrich the lives of others. He liked go-karts, trucks, and being with family. The grandkids always found a place on his lap and he always had soda and candy for them.
He enjoyed watching their ballgames and was looking forward to traveling to Canada with the kids. He was full of dreams and aspirations even as he struggled through his illness. He was a very innocent person and a cowboy at heart.
Michael is survived by his mother, Betty Mae (Bush) LaCroix, of Kalispell. He is also survived by his brothers, Rick LaCroix (Kathy) of Overland Park, Kansas, Ted LaCroix (Wanda) of Arlee, and Robin LaCroix (Carolyn) of Kalispell; his sisters, Anne LaCroix of Helena, and Laurie LaCroix of Kalispell; numerous nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and -nephews.
Michael was especially close to his nephew Chris LaCroix and his children Gabe, Nevaeh and Caleb.
A memorial Mass will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 18, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
