Mildred Elizabeth (Bahr) Storie, 92, passed away on June 25, 2018, in Kalispell.
She was born on June 11, 1926, in the LaSalle community near Kalispell. Mildred was the oldest of five children. She was raised in Bigfork and graduated from Bigfork High School.
Mildred married Kenneth G. Storie at the Bigfork Methodist Church in 1949, and was married for 66 years at the time of Kenny’s death in 2015.
Mildred worked for many years at the First National Bank, which became Norwest Bank and then, Wells Fargo Bank, from which she retired.
Mildred was a member of the Epworth United Methodist Church, a past Guardian of Bethel No. 14 of the Inter-national Order of Job’s Daughters, and also a member of the Adah Chapter 17 of the Order of Eastern Star.
Mildred was a very social lady who loved to participate in neighborhood gatherings. She loved time with family and friends at lake homes, first on Bitterroot Lake and later on Flathead Lake. She also enjoyed spending winters in Arizona with Kenny. Mildred loved fresh flowers and almost always had a bouquet in her living room.
Her favorite food was pizza from Moose’s with a cold beer, and she always looked forward to cherries from Flathead Lake.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Caroline (Jellison) Bahr, husband Kenneth Storie, and a sister Eleanor May Bahr.
Mildred is survived by her daughter, Karen (Storie) Dean, of Kalispell and Lake Havasu City, Arizona; son, Glenn Alan Storie, of Kalispell; brothers, Walter (Joann) Bahr and Stephen (June) Bahr; and sister, Roberta (Russell) Brooks; grandchildren, Zachary (Vanessa) Wheat of Spokane and Brooke Dean of Oakland, California; great-grandchildren, Emery, Tucker and Presley Wheat of Spokane; and by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration of Mildred’s life will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 3, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Her ashes will be placed with those of her husband at Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
