Minta Mae Schnur Milner was born in Washington on Sept. 11, 1930, to Preston and Opal Bourne.
She “went to be with her Lord and Savior” on Aug. 7, 2014, in Kalispell. She grew up in Fairfield, Mont.
As a young lady, she met Donald Schnur and moved to California where he was a sheriff helicopter pilot and former Marine. After his retirement, they moved to Tucson, Ariz. After Donald passed away, she moved back to Kalispell to be with her family, which consisted of her son, Ken, and Lynn Schnur; brother John, and Lou Olsen; sister, Betty, and Chuck O’Masters; and sister, Judy, and Harvey Wicklund.
Mickie, as she was known to everyone, was so full of life and enjoyed being around her family and friends. No matter who she came in contact with, her infectious smile and laughter made everyone feel so comfortable and fall in love with her. She was involved with Toys for Tots for many years, loved to square dance, was a member of the Marine Corps League and loved to travel.
She was very involved with her family. She loved to spend time with her kids, grandkids and great-grandchildren. She was known to “adopt” others into her family. She always had so much love to give and never knew a stranger.
Mickie was very involved with her church, Landmark Worship Center, pastored by her daughter, Dawn, associate pastor, Janet Elliott and staff minister, Stephanie Leite. Through Landmark Worship Center, Mickie was involved with child sponsorship through Compassion International and Operation Christmas Child with Samaritan's Purse.
Mickie was preceded in death by her son, Kenneth Schnur, and grandson, Jason Schnur.
She is survived by her daughter, Dawn Marie Schnur; adopted daughter, Janet Elliott; daughter-in-law, Lynn, and Chris Delby; granddaughter, Amber, and LJ Abalos; brother, John Olsen; sisters, Betty and Judy; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
There will be a family memorial service at 6 p.m. today, Aug. 9, at Landmark Worship Center. A celebration of Mickie’s life will be held on her birthday, Sept. 11. The time and place will be determined at a later date.
Memorials can be sent to the family through Landmark Worship Center.
The family would like to thank everyone who has played a part in Mickie’s life. Your love, support and caregiving through the years means so much to the family.
