Noel Shubert Weaver passed away peacefully on September 3, 2020. Noel was born on December 31, 1957 in Oberlin, OH. After graduating from Oberlin High School, she obtained a degree in Forestry from Rutgers University. Working for the Forest Service, Noel completed assignments in New Jersey, northern California and Montana. In Montana, Noel earned a master’s degree in Computer Science, and then worked for The Craighead Wildlife-Wildlands Institute in Missoula, MT. Noel was a partner in SANCO Docks and Marine in Thompson Falls, MT.
Noel loved Montana and her supportive community in Thompson Falls. She appreciated the beauty of her property along the Clark Fork River and all the wildlife that surrounded her. Noel was concerned about protecting Thompson Falls, and actively supported efforts to block a coal facility from establishing a business there.
Ten years ago Noel was diagnosed with cancer, but after surgery and chemotherapy, was able to sustain reasonably good health for nearly six years. After the cancer spread, Noel faced her new treatments with confidence and optimism, and was supported by many of the wonderful doctors at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. Noel also served as administrator of support groups to help others who shared the cancer fight, and she was very knowledgeable about therapies and options.
Noel was preceded in death by her parents, Oliver and Shirley Shubert, her sister-in-law Ellen, her step daughter-in-law Jill, and is survived by her sister Laurene (Chuck) of Chagrin Falls, OH, brother Kurt of Amherst, OH, brother Eric (Karen) of Chandler, AZ; her step children Kelsi (Jeremy) Martin of Bozeman, MT, Micah Weaver of Bethlehem, NH, three grandchildren, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. We, her family, will miss her sharp mind, her caring smile, and her passion for life.
If you would like to honor Noel, please direct donations to: Metastatic Breast Cancer Research (metavivor.org) or the National Parks (nationalparks.org) or Washington Avenue Church (waccelyria.org).
A memorial will be planned for a future time.
Love you so much, Noel
