Orin Fredenberg, 83, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at his home in Kalispell.
Orin was born on the Fredenberg Homestead to George and Ruth Fredenberg and was the youngest of 16 children. Orin came from a family full of musicians. He and his brothers played music to help build the LaSalle and Birch Grove Grange Halls. Orin could play any song on his accordion, fiddle or guitar just from hearing it. Orin was the president of the District 1 Fiddlers Association for many years.
Orin worked several years at the Libby mine before starting work for Plum Creek in Evergreen. He retired from Plum Creek after more than 30 years.
Orin was preceded in death by his parents, and 13 brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Glenna, of 37 years; sons, Jerry, Jeff and Bert; daughters, Ardy, Kelly, Shaunna, Tammy, Teresa and Brandy; 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Family and friends and others whose lives have been touched by Orin are invited to join in his celebration of life. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, March 16, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with funeral services at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 17, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. A potluck reception will follow at the Kalispell Eagles where everyone is invited to bring your musical instruments for a good ole’ fashioned jam session.
