Peter Lemer

November 19, 1941 — April 5, 2017

Pete Lemer, 75 of Rexford, MT, passed away of natural causes on April 5th 2017.

Pete was born to John and Dorothy Lemer of Drake, North Dakota on November 19th 1941.  He traveled from Drake, ND to Milwaukee, WI where he participated in Golden Gloves boxing in 1964. At that time he was hired to spar with Sonny Liston before the title fight with Cassius Clay. After that he headed west to work on the Trego portal and later the Libby Dam. Pete was an equipment operator and settled in Lincoln County. He worked on the North Slope drilling oil in the winters. During the summer he and his wife Mona traveled around the lower states while Pete worked for a seismographic company.  Pete and Mona owned and operated the Eureka Tavern & Cafe. After retiring from the oil fields he continued to run the dump for many years and went on to retire from the county.

Pete was the youngest of twelve children.  Preceding him in death are brothers Dennis, Mike, Johnny and Tony.  He is survived by his four sisters Dorothy, Margaret, Magdalena, and Rosemary as well as his brothers Ed, Joe, and Lawrence.  Pete is also survived by his four children Paul, Leann, Ronnie, Danny and Pete's grandchildren Hayden, Kaylee, Jacquelyn, Emily, Matthew, Candice, Katrin, Courtney, Daryl, Brooke, and Haylie. Pete and Mona were an instrumental part of Keith Lambertson’s and Irvin Williamson’s child hood lives.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

A graveside committal will be held 1:00 pm, Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Eureka Cemetery.  Luncheon will follow at the Eureka Sports Pub.  Buffalo Hill Funeral Home is caring for the family.
