Phyllis Hartley

March 3, 1928 — May 3, 2015

Phyllis (Smith) Hartley passed away quietly at age 87 in Whitefish, Montana, on May 3rd, 2015.  Born in Tipton, IN, Phyllis spent her life in service to others as a career nurse. She retired from St. Francis Medical Center in Beech Grove, IN, as Assistant Director of Nursing. She was an avid gardener, an excellent baker, a talented seamstress and a loving mother.  She was predeceased by her ex-husband of 22 years, Gregg Hartley; by her close personal friend, Carlene May; and by her brother, John D. Smith IV. Phyllis is survived by her sister, Karlann (Smith) Coughlin; by her children, Charles Hartley, David Hartley, Debra (Hartley) Kuzmik; and by her many loving grandchildren, nephews and nieces.
