Randle Mitchell Slaten, 70, of Columbia Falls, Montana, died April 8, 2015. He was born to the late Roland Slaten and Mary Green Huddleston on November 30, 1944, in Foreman, Arkansas. Randy attended Foreman High School, and he served in the USMC from 1962 to 1966, where he advanced to Corporal (E-4). He married Donnie Ford Slaten in 1967 in Ashdown, Arkansas.
Randle was a proud member of the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters, and he recently received his forty-five year membership pin. He maintained close friendships with his buddies from the Marine Corps, and they are placing a brick plaque at the USMC Museum at Quantico, Virginia, in his honor with “the mouse” engraved on it. Randle also enjoyed fishing at Lake Millwood with his best friend, Larry Gorum, and his good friend Cecil Bowman taught him to be a master fish cooker for family and friends. Randle was most happy when traveling, especially the years he and Donnie spent moving around the country in their motor home.
Randle is survived by his wife, Donnie Slaten of Rollins, Montana, two children Mark Slaten (Kim) of Kalispell, Montana and Stacey Miner (Quinton) of Annapolis, Maryland; three grandchildren Mallory Slaten, Fisher Slaten, and Sawyer Slaten of Kalispell, Montana; brothers David Slaten of Foreman, Arkansas, Albert Slaten of Texarkana, Arkansas, and Carl Huddleston of Doddridge, Arkansas, and sister Mary Hannah Hiller of Nash, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Green Cemetery in Foreman, Arkansas, with a visitation time at 2 p.m.
If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Montana Veteran’s Home, P.O. Box 250, Columbia Falls, MT 59912, where Randle received loving care for the last six years.
