Raymond Wesley Owens Sr., 79, passed away “to be with the Lord” on Feb. 8, 2018, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Jan. 25, 1939, in Eureka and proudly served in the U.S. Navy and Army Reserves.
He was born to Dorothy and Herman Owens and survived by his beloved wife of 21 years, Gail Owens, his younger brother Herman Owens of Kila; four sons, Raymond (Susan) Owens of Las Vegas, Russell Owens of Kalispell, Robert Owens of Ellensburg, Washington, and Timothy Owens of Kalispell; his three daughters, Debbie Tucheck of Las Vegas, Shannon Owens Street of Kalispell, and Brenda Owens of Arizona; and also numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren who gave Ray much joy and laughter throughout his living years.
Some of his most memorable and favorite times were spent on camping trips with family and friends at Timber Lake and Pinkham Creek in Eureka. He loved spending time with his many grandkids and great-grandkids weather it was hunting, fishing, gathering at the farm for birthdays and holiday celebrations or even sitting on grandpa’s lap riding the hay tractor and riding lawn mower through the farm fields.
Ray had a huge heart for taking care of this family and loved ones and was famous for telling stories around the kitchen table when family gathered.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dorothy and Herman Owens, formerly of Eureka, brothers, Clyde Owens, formerly of Vancouver, Washington, and Jerry Owens, formerly of Kalispell; and his son Travis Owens and daughter Teresa Disney, of Kalispell.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Nazarene Church of Kalispell. There will be a reception of fellowship following the service with food and drink.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mr. Owens’ burial service at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 30, in Eureka at the Tobacco Valley Cemetery. Please join us in a military honors ceremony where Ray Owens will be laid to rest at the feet of both deceased parents.
He will be truly missed by all.
